Japan builds 3D-printed train station in Wakayama
和歌山で日本初の3Dプリント駅を建設
Japan has built a new train station using 3D printing. It is in a small town in Wakayama Prefecture. The train company JR West worked with a company called Serendix. They made the station building in parts and then put it together at night when trains were not running.
It took only about three hours to build the station. This is much faster than normal buildings. The building is small, but very strong. It uses special materials to stay safe during earthquakes. It also cost less money than a normal concrete station.
The outside of the station has a round design. It looks like a mikan orange, a famous fruit in the area. Inside the station, workers will still add ticket gates and other things before it opens in July.
This project shows Japan’s interest in new technology. Japan wants to keep making better public transport that is fast, safe, and low-cost.
